The Future Little House Preschool

A Safe Place for Our Littlest Ones from Hard Places

The Little House Preschool and Child Development Center will be a trauma-informed haven for children ages 0–5 in the foster care system. More than just a daycare, The Little House will be a place where children from hard places can experience safety, stability, and care from trained, compassionate professionals. It will provide not only childcare, but also wrap-around services like therapy, counseling, early interventions, and developmental support—all tailored to meet the unique needs of children in foster care.

Together, We Can Build The Little House

Right now, in Lee County and across Alabama, there are children under five entering foster care who have already experienced more trauma than most of us will in a lifetime. Their brains—still in the most crucial stages of development—are shaped by what they experience in these early years. Abuse. Neglect. Loss. These events don’t just hurt—they change the way a child thinks, feels, and connects to the world.

But healing is possible.

We are preparing to launch a capital campaign to raise the necessary funds to bring The Little House to life. To do it, we need you.

Why The Little House Is Needed

  • Early trauma rewires the brain. Research shows that children who experience abuse, neglect, or instability during the first five years of life are more likely to struggle with emotional regulation, cognitive delays, and physical health challenges.

  • Foster families often say "no" due to lack of childcare. In our own community, working foster parents have had to decline placements because they simply can’t find or afford daycare.

  • Affordable trauma-informed care is rare. Even when care is available, it's rarely designed with the unique needs of foster children in mind—and it's often financially out of reach.

The Little House answers all of these challenges—head on.

What The Little House Will Provide

  • Trauma-Informed Preschool and Daycare for children in foster care ages 0–5

  • On-Site Therapies (speech, occupational, and physical therapy)

This is our moment.

To create a place of healing, learning, and hope.
To remove barriers for families who want to foster.
To surround vulnerable children with love and support from day one.

We cannot do it alone. But together—we can build The Little House.
